Healers + TanksStill new to the WoW blogging world, I can’t say I’ve yet to form an opinion on who’s who, but I definitely found some great read-throughs that made me coming back for more. One such blog is SaladFork’s Omen of Clarity and despite the fact that the number of his posts isn’t spectacular, their quality is.

One of his latest posts raised up a problem that I hadn’t really given much thought to before: namely he describes how he felt a synergy between himself (the tank) and his healers, a feeling he couldn’t really go through as a mage, who was rarely interacting with the other players mid-fight and was simply focusing on the pew-pew aspect of the game. I tend to understand his point of view, although I can’t say I’m much of a tank myself, I only leveled my warrior after 2.5 years of being a healbot, so I was kind of tired of having a character with “responsibilities”, thus went for the good old hitchu-in-the-crotch blunt (and mental) fury warrior. World of Warcraft HealerWhile I was gearing up my priest for raiding, gear choices were easy and I didn’t really care about what items I wanted, whatever came my way and “looked” like it had better stats than what I was currently equipping, I’d roll for. After going back to raiding, things started to get a bit trickier, because of two reasons:

A. I didn’t want to spend 10 raids’ worth of DKP on an item that was only a slight improvement, I wanted to aim for those items that were the best improvements for what I was currently equipping (but for that I needed to know how to weight my own stats)

B. On many items, I was competing with fellow raiders of a different class and I wanted to sit down with them and try to figure out a priority system (eg: “I need X more because it has Spirit, you need Y more because it has more Spell Crit, so we both pass for the other’s item”). Again, I needed to know how to weight my own stats and that of the other healers as well.

If you’ve been in my situation and you weren’t sure what stats to aim for and what stats your fellow healers should aim for, I made a chart showing each classes’ priority. No maths (yet), just a simple chart to point out what you should go for:

10 Clues You\'re in the Worst PUG EverWe’ve all been there, whether it’s at level 20 and you’re PUGing Deadmines or at 70 and you’re trying to get some offspec epix in Heroic Magister’s, the Worst PUG Ever has mercy for no one.

Throughout my 3 year WoW experience I’ve been through some nasty shit, culminating a couple of weeks ago with a MGT run that lasted throughout the better half of my night. It’s not that we didn’t have the Crowd Control for it, it’s not that people weren’t focusing, it was just bad chemistry and we sucked big time. So I decided from hereon, to try and avoid any group that has any of the following indicators of worstpugginess:

Quick Change Weapons MacroThis is a simple, yet extremely useful macro that comes in handy for pretty much all classes in different situations. The point of the macro is to quickly change between weapons or weapon combos to maximize your role at some point during a fight (be it healing, regenning, dpsing, etc). Simply open up the /macro tab in WoW and create a icon tooltip for it, then copy paste the following (note, the “” should be removed and weapon/shield/offhand names should be replaced with the one’s your using):

/equip “Name of 1-Handed Weapon”
/equip “Name of Shield/Offhand”
/stopmacro [equipped:"Name of 2-Handed Weapon"]
/equip “Name of 2-Handed Weapon”

Just make sure you type in the name of the weapons correctly, or it won’t work. Alternatively, with your macro open, SHIFT+L-click the item in your bag and it will link its name in the macro.

Here are a couple of examples where this might come in handy:

Priest Weapon ComparissonI gotta say, my fellow healbots, itemization has been kind for us at Tier-6 level, especially when it comes to weapon choice. As a priest, I seem to have formed a habit of only looking for healing staves to wield, ever since back in the day, when Benediction was the top of the line in Molten Core and Blackwing Lair.

Patch 2.4. didn’t make things any easier (or did it?) for us, with the buffed up importance of Spirit and Intelligence so I was off to see what weapon combo or 2-handed staff I should aim for when I get the chance of the rare drop (sadly everything is Shamanloot for my guild these days). While Rod of Blazing Light (drop from Vexallus in Heroic MGT) was a good regen staff if buffed with some Spirit gems, I had laid my eyes on 6 items for general raiding, coming form Mount Hyjal, Black Temple and the Badge Vendor:
